Although The Twilight Zone has been off the air for decades, it still holds a very special place in the hearts of genre fans. The series was revived in 1985 and again in 2002, but the original show – which ran from 1958 to 1964 and was hosted by Rod Sterling – still holds up for its chilling, thrilling storytelling and its clever social commentary.
To see the show remade for a modern audience, there’s really only one man we’d want to do the job. And thankfully, he is.
Oscar winner Jordan Peele is adept at weaving commentary into his work, and his seemingly nonstop work with his production company, Monkeypaw Productions, shows a deep passion and appreciation for the horror genre.
Peele is helming this reboot of The Twilight Zone as both a producer and its host. The series will air on CBS All Access beginning April 1st.
A full trailer has been released for the series, and it looks pretty impressive. The cast is stacked with talented familiar faces, including Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), John Cho (Searching), Adam Scott (Krampus), Jacob Tremblay (The Predator), Allison Tolman (Krampus), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Sanaa Lathan (Alien vs. Predator), Greg Kinnear (Mystery Men), Tracy Morgan (30 Rock), and many more.
We know that at least one classic episode has been remade for the new series. As for the rest, we’ll have to wait until April to see what The Twilight Zone has in store.
