The Satanic Temple is out doing some good. They awarded 4 students their Devil’s Advocate Scholarship to help them out in the rather tough world of school at the moment. In addition the students didn’t actually have to be members of the TST in order to qualify for the scholarship.
The students were awarded $666 and a trophy. In order to take part, the students had to answer one of two prompts that were given to them.
“What initiatives have you undertaken that are consistent with The Satanic Temple’s tenets and mission?”
“Please discuss and describe in detail any one of the teachers who crushed your spirit, undermined your self-confidence, and made you hate every minute you were forced to be in school.”
The students were then allowed to answer in their choice of format. Either an short film, a written essay, poems or even paintings.
“The vast majority expressed the trauma they were forced to endure in school. They recalled the brutal tactics their teachers used to insult, disparage, and decimate their confidence and self-worth.” Scholorship Committee Member, Ashley Wright said.
The ultimate goal of the Satanic Temple is to get students out of their shells and to question the construct of “compulsory schooling.”
