Since the dawn of ancient civilizations, humans have looked toward the heavens and wondered at what might live among the stars. Could there be life out there? Was someone or something on another earth looking out and wondering the same thing? As our own understanding grew, so did our ideas and the possibilities of alien life and UFOs sparked new debates.
Conspiracy theorists have pointed to any number of possible government cover-ups in the last 100 years, and some of them are harder to ignore than others.
Now the New York Times is reporting that a government unit set up to study reports of UFO sightings, supposedly disbanded years ago, is still in working order and is set to release some of the data they’ve gathered in the near future.
The Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force, now officially a part of Naval Intelligence, was set up “‘to standardize collection and reporting’ on sightings of unexplained aerial vehicles, and was to report at least some of its findings to the public every six months.” Officially, its goal is to keep tabs on aviation technologies from other countries, but there are many who report that it has discovered evidence of otherworldly visitation, as well.
The program, previously titled the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, began back in 2007 and was in working order until 2017 when the budget for the program reportedly lapsed. Insiders have noted, however, that the program never ended, and was in fact simply tucked away under a different name to continue its activities. The unit itself is not classified, but much of its findings are.
Luis Elizondo, a former intelligence officer who worked on the program until 2017, is quoted saying, “It no longer has to hide in the shadows. It will have a new transparency.”
Former Senate majority leader Harry Reid was one government official who openly pushed for the exploration of possible alien technologies and societies. He points to materials retrieved and studied for decades by military intelligence that astrophysicist Eric W. Davis has pointed out that we could not have made ourselves.
Reid has stated that the government should pull back the veil on these programs and allow the public to see what is and is not known at this time.
Will this new information finally confirm for us the existence of other intelligent life in the universe? Are the UFO sightings legitimate? Only time will tell.
