As we inch closer to the September 7 release date of The Nun, we’ve been seeing a push in advertising to drum up excitement – including an ad that was pulled from YouTube for violating their shock policies.
A recent blessing from Warner Bros. has conjured new images of Valak and the sisters. A featurette explaining the cohesive timeline throughout The Conjuring universe as well as a 360-degree VR video were also released. Get ready to explore and escape the abbey for yourself!
Nine new images of the upcoming Conjuring Spin-off, The Nun, highlight the fan favorite Valak as well as some of the main characters. Lurking in the shadows there appear to be some new faces fans have yet to be introduced to.
While we cannot wait to meet the sisters of the Abbey, the interactive virtual reality experience will have to suffice.
The 360-degree video puts fans smack-dab in the middle of the haunting action. The dark tunnels underneath the abbey seem to hold more than just crucifixes.
Directors James Wan (The Conjuring), David Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation), Corin Hardy (The Nun), and producer Peter Safran weigh in to explain the connection between the four films in the Conjuring universe. The featurette outlines the timeline of the shared universe and how these stories connect.
The Nun‘s writer, Gary Dauberman, had previously shared with Screen Rant that James Wan wanted each subsequent film in the Conjuring universe to have its own distinct style and flavor. From what we’ve seen so far, The Nun has successfully achieved that goal.
With a countdown of only two weeks, we wonder if we will see any more new hauntings from The Nun.
The film’s synopsis, as shared by Coming Soon:
“When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.”
