‘The Muppet Show’ is Coming to Disney+

by Trey Hilburn III

Waka Waka! The Muppet Show is coming to Disney+ in all of its muppety glory. The variety show that ran for five seasons from 1976 to 1981 introduced the world to Jim Henson’s gallery of Muppets.

The colorful bunch of characters included Kermit and his co-stars each bringing their signature bit of amazingness to the show. The series was written by notable comedy voices Jerry Juhl and Jack Burns who stayed on as showrunners throughout the 5 seasons.

Most notably, this marks the first time that seasons 4 and 5 have ever been available to stream.

“It’s going to be great to welcome back longtime fans, and to give a new generation of fans a chance to see how we got our start, how Miss Piggy became a star and so much more, Today, I’m proud to say: ‘It’s time to play the music, light the lights and meet the Muppets on Disney Plus tonight!’ And as for Statler and Waldorf, the two old guys in the balcony, I can only add: ‘Sorry, guys, but….here we go again.” Kermit said in a press release.

The Muppet Show begins streaming on Disney+ February 19.
