‘The Head’ Gets New Poster & Major Distributor

by Timothy Rawles

Jordan Downey has been working overtime in the past few years. The 32-year old director who originally gave us the seasonal horror comedy Thankskilling back in 2009 has some great news for his latest feature called The Head.

First, there is a new poster for the film created by Christopher Shy, the artist behind posters for Mandy and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

The news gets better; The Head was picked up by Vertical Entertainment for a worldwide release.

“The first time we watched The Head we immediately knew it was a special, unique project that would resonate with horror fans,” said Josh Spector, VP of Acquisitions and Distribution at Vertical Entertainment told Deadline.  “We are excited to be working with groundbreaking filmmakers like Jordan who are still finding new ways to thrill audiences.”

Downey believes his film and its new distributor are absolutely the right fit.

“Audiences are going to see something truly one-of-a-kind with The Head and it was always important to us that we find the right partner who believed in its unique voice,” said Downey. “Vertical Entertainment has a keen eye for finding breakout projects and we couldn’t be more thrilled that The Head is joining their impressive roster.”

Here a synopsis of the film from the 2018 Sitges Film Festival:

A warrior travels wild expanses on horseback, pursuing the monster that murdered his daughter. His thirst for revenge is the driving force of a film constructed with very few elements, minimalistic and epic at the same time, where fantasy and horror find their more physical and gory incarnations.
