The Grudge

Producer Sam Raimi’s reboot of the hit film The Grudge dropped a brand new red band trailer this morning and it has the tension and gore turned up to 11!

Set for release on January 3, 2020, this new iteration of The Grudge stars Lin Shaye (Insidious), Betty Gilpin (GLOW), Andrea Riseborough (Mandy), John Cho (Star Trek), and William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption).

In the new trailer, Riseborough’s Detective Muldoon arrives at a private residence and enters after hearing strange noises from inside. She’s soon confronted by Shaye as Faith Matheson, covered in blood, who entreats the Detective to feed her.

As Shaye’s cries become more hysterical and terrifying, Muldoon finds something even more disturbing in the home’s living room.

Nicolas Pesce (The Eyes of My Mother) directs this new version of The Grudge based on a script he co-wrote with Jeff Buhler (The Prodigy).

The film is based on Takashi Shimizu’s 1998 film Ju-On. Shimizu adapted and directed the American remake of the film starring Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Clea Duvall (The Faculty) back in 2004.
