‘The Domestics’ Are Coming Home on VOD This Summer

A post-apocalyptic wasteland, malicious tribes straight out a Road Warrior film, and wholesome family values: this is what everyone can expect from The Domestics.

Writer/director Mike P. Nelson (The Retirement of Joe Corduroy, The Goodbye) has teamed up with Gianni Naunnari (producer of From Dusk Till Dawn and exec producer of Se7en) and distributor Orion Classics to bring The Domestics to select theaters and VOD.

Orion Pictures released a trailer earlier this week showing off the bleak wasteland, the vicious comic-book-like gangs, and intense action characters that Mark and Nina West will confront on their journey through the hellscape.

In addition to the trailer and release dates, the film has also received an official poster of the lovely couple with a few of the aforementioned tribe members.

The plot for The Domestics is detailed as:

In a terrifying post-apocalyptic world inhabited by gangs divided into deadly factions, a husband and wife race desperately across the countryside in search of safety and must work together as they are pushed to the breaking point in order to survive.

Tyler Hoechlin (Road to Perdition, Teen Wolf), Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns, Straw Dogs, 21), Sonoya Mizuno (Ex-Machina, La La Land), and Lance Reddick (John Wick, John Wick 2) star in this post-apocalyptic thriller.

With a horror industry consisting of a seeming endless stream of post-apocalyptic zombie films, it’s awesome to see something that focuses on crazy villains roaming the wastelands in contrast to the hordes of undead.

After a catastrophic event has wiped out most of mankind, the remaining survivors have divided into rival gangs – because nothing keeps you going like teamwork. The tribes – each rallied around a central theme – provide a far more active threat than shambling corpses.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nelson described the importance of doing everything “in camera” to achieve a gnarly effect. He explains that the film is “surrounded by loads of intense action and old-school horror. I wanted to make a movie that did action the old-fashioned way”.

The Domestics can be seen in select theaters on June 28th (with its premiere as the opening night film at Cinepocalypse 2018 in Chicago), and will land on VOD on June 29th.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
