After a lot of speculation, The Craft reboot is finally announcing initial casting!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cailee Spaeny has joined the cast as Hannah, a high school outcast who finds her place in a small coven of witches who tap into unexpected powers. Naturally, as in the first film, this will lead to nothing but trouble, but if the reboot has even a portion of that initial films charm, we’re ready to watch.
Spaeny is still a relative newcomer to the film scene, but she has already racked up serious credits in films like Bad Times at the El Royale and On the Basis of Sex.
Zoe Lister-Jones (Band-Aid) has been tapped to write and direct the film.
Columbia and Blumhouse will finance the film with Jason Blum serving as producer. Andrew Fleming, who directed the original film, will serve as an executive producer on the reboot alongside Lucas Wiesendanger from Red Wagon Entertainment.
While a release date has not been set for the project, filming is slated to begin sometime next month.
With this first announcement, we’re sure the cast of The Craft will fill out quickly and we’ll keep you posted on all the latest updates as they become available.
