Season two of The Alienist, titled The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, is set to debut with back-to-back episodes on TNT beginning at 9 pm EST.

The series, based on the novels by Caleb Carr, focuses on Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Bruhl), reporter and illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans), and aspiring detective Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning) who come together at the beginning to hunt down the most foul killers of their time.

The second season sees a shift in focus, as Sara moves to the foreground. Having opened her own detective agency, she soon finds herself involved in the case of missing child that points toward a much darker mystery involving a killer who has struck again and again, seemingly without being caught or even suspected. Though it might sound less intense than the first season with its child-killing serial killer, there is an unsettling, insidious nature to the crimes in the second novel that will play out in this season that cannot be denied.

Today, Entertainment Weekly revealed an exclusive clip of the beginning of the first episode which you can see by CLICKING HERE.

The central trio are returning for this season, as will Douglas Smith and Matthew Shear as fraternal twin detectives Marcus and Lucius Isaacson. Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs) and Robert Wisdom (The Loft) will also reprise their roles from the first season.
