Netflix has acquired a streaming deal for Ghost Lab, a Thai supernatural thriller produced by GDH 559. The film will release on May 26, 2021! The acquisition comes as the streaming platform continues to expand its South East Asian catalog.
Ghost Lab is directed by Paween Purijitpanya (Phobia) and stars Thanapob Leeratanakachorn (One for the Road), Paris Intarakomalyasut (Bad Genius: The Series), and Nuttanicha Dungwattanawanich (The Cupids Series). The plot revolves around a group of experiments that blur the lines between life and death. According to Deadline, it is the first Thai movie to be produced in Dolby Vision.
“Ghost Lab is a bold, original film from the brilliant mind of Director Paween Purijitpanya and an incredible Thai cast and crew,” Malobika Banerji, Director of Content, Southeast Asia at Netflix said in a statement quoted by Deadline. “We’re excited to partner with GDH to bring this film to our members in Thailand and around the world.”
“Ghost Lab’s storyline is quite unconventional,” the film’s director added, “because it attempts a deeper exploration of our belief in the supernatural, and whether this can be proven by science. It’s an honor to be partnering with a global platform that allows for creative expression and I hope this movie will encourage the audience to contemplate their ways of life and find the answers to their questions.”
