Last year we got Jamie Lee Curtis’ return to her franchise in Halloween and this year we get Linda Hamilton looking her badass best in Terminator: Dark Fate.

The movie is like comfort food for culture geeks because not only is Hamilton on deck lifting weaponry that seems too heavy for her frame, but James Cameron threw some money into the pot as producer and Deadpool director Tim Miller gets carte blanche with this chapter.

As you would expect, the trailer makes use of explosives, teen identity crisis metaphors and, did I mention explosives?

According to the synopsis, Dark Fate takes place immediately after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day which I honestly can’t remember since the three chapters that came after that have scrambled my reference to the timeline.

But what I do remember in Judgement Day is Robert Patrick oozing in and out of smashed windshields mercury-first as the upgraded T-1000 which seem to return here but in gunmetal black.

Watching this trailer I have flashbacks of The Phantom Menace when the tech in that movie seemed far more advanced than in A New Hope which takes place in the future.

But the Terminator canon loves to mess with the space/time continuum so anything’s possible.

Watch the official trailer now and let us know what you think. Terminator: Dark Fate is in theatres 11.1.19.
