Ten MORE 2015 Horror Movies To Look Out For!

Published

on

Last week, our own Patti Pauley wrote up a list here on iHorror about 10 upcoming horror movies that we should all be keeping an eye on. The list included a handful of 2015 horror movies that are sure to be all over Top 10 lists at the end of the year, including Krampus, It Follows and the Poltergeist remake.

Today, we offer up another batch of titles that you should be excited about, in the months to come here in 2015. So let’s cut the chit-chat and get on with the list.

In no particular order…

1) DARK SUMMER

RELEASE DATE: FRIDAY, JANUARY 9TH – LIMITED THEATERS & VOD

Joining The Woman in Black 2 and [REC] 4 as one of the very first horror releases of 2015 is Dark Summer, which is also the first big release of the year that’s not a sequel. Why should you be looking forward to this one? Well, it was directed by Paul Solet, who made an impressive debut back in 2009 with Grace. Six years later, Solet makes his long-awaited return to the genre with this spook-show, centered on a 17-year-old boy who uncovers a web of paranormal activity while on house arrest.

2) ROB ZOMBIE’S 31

RELEASE DATE: TBD

Rob Zombie’s next horror film has been shrouded in secrecy since it was announced last year, but that didn’t stop his fans from pitching in and making it happen. Successfully crowd-funded through the website FanBacked, 31 looks to be a return to form for Zombie, which he describes as being tonally similar to The Devil’s Rejects. Set on Halloween night, the film revolves around a deadly game known as ’31,’ with five kidnapped hostages being forced to fight for survival against a horde of madmen.

3) THE GREEN INFERNO

RELEASE DATE: TBD

We’ve been waiting nearly a decade for a new Eli Roth film, as the last one he directed was 2007’s Hostel: Part 2. While the original plan was for his long-awaited next film to be released at the tail end of last year, behind the scenes issues unfortunately left The Green Inferno on the proverbial cutting room floor, and at the moment we have no idea when we’ll finally be able to see it. Roth’s homage to Cannibal Holocaust, the film sees a group of student activists coming face-to-face with a band of hungry cannibals.

Digging Up The Marrow

4) DIGGING UP THE MARROW

RELEASE DATE: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH – LIMITED THEATERS & VOD

One of the most interesting releases of 2015 is sure to be Digging Up The Marrow, a faux-documentary made by Adam Green (Hatchet) and artist Alex Pardee. This one has been on my radar for quite some time, and it’s another project that we’ve heard very little about. From what we do know, Green plays himself in the film, at the start receiving a package from a man who claims he can prove the existence of monsters. The film has received a whole lot of positivity on the festival scene, and a trailer hasn’t yet been released.

5) PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE GHOST DIMENSION

RELEASE DATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 13TH

Both the fifth installment of the Paranormal Activity franchise and somewhat of a stand-alone spinoff, The Marked Ones breathed a decent amount of new life into the stagnant series last year, and we can only hope that this year’s sixth installment does the same. Subtitled The Ghost Dimension, the film is reportedly going to be released in 3D, introducing a brand new family to the mix. Again, the found footage sequel will center on that family experiencing paranormal activity in their home – because duh. No word yet on how it will tie into the other films, though Katie Featherston is involved.

6) INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3

RELEASE DATE: FRIDAY, JUNE 5TH

Another franchise continuing this year is Insidious, which kicks off the summer season with its third installment. Written and directed by series star Leigh Whannell, Insidious: Chapter 3 marks the return of ghost-hunting team Specs, Tucker and Elise, and will revolve around their investigation of a new family. The film is being described as a prequel, taking place before the haunting of the Lambert family that was covered in the first two films.

Human Centipede 3

7) THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 3: FINAL SEQUENCE

RELEASE DATE: JUNE 20TH

Though it seemed impossible, the Human Centipede went way more over the top with its first sequel, and we can only imagine that the third installment will be the craziest yet. Dubbed The Human Centipede 3: The Final Sequence, this alleged last film in the series will feature the construction of a 500-person centipede, and both Dieter Laser and Laurence Harvey will be returning – though both will be playing far different characters. The film will be set in a maximum security prison in the middle of the desert, and that’s all we really know at the time of writing this.

8) CLOWN

RELEASE DATE: TBD

We’ve been talking about Clown for quite a while here on iHorror, which began as a fan-made trailer for a fake film. The faux trailer caught the attention of Eli Roth, who helped director Jon Watts develop it into a feature. Like The Green Inferno, the killer clown flick was set for release sometime in 2014, though it was unceremoniously pushed back to this year. In the whacky-looking film, a father dons a clown costume for his son’s birthday party, and then finds himself unable to take it off – and possessed by an evil spirit.

9) SINISTER 2

RELEASE DATE: FRIDAY, AUGUST 21ST

If you’re asking me, one of the downright scariest horror films in the last few years was Sinister, released back in 2012. Due to the success of the film, a sequel was quickly green-lit, and it’s finally headed our way in the summer of this year. Shannyn Sossamon stars as the mother of 9-year-old twin sons, with the family moving into the troubled home from the first film. James Ransone will reprise his role as the deputy from Sinister, and it’s of course a given that Bagul will once again return to wreak some havoc.

10) CUB

RELEASE DATE: TBD

2014 saw somewhat of a slasher film revival in the form of The Town That Dreaded Sundown‘s same-named remake, and I think I speak for many of you when I say that I’m hopeful for the sub-genres big time return, in the coming years. This year, festival favorite Cub does its duty in revitalizing the slasher sub-genre, centered on a group of Cub Scouts who venture out into the woods and come across a vicious monster. The Belgian film has been described as one of the best slashers in many years, which is more than enough to get me excited about it.

Other horror films to look out for in 2015 include Demonic, Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers and the anthology Tales of Halloween.

Arcadian Movie Trailer

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has given this film an “R” rating for its “bloody images,” hinting at the visceral and intense experience awaiting viewers. The film draws inspiration from acclaimed horror benchmarks like “A Quiet Place,” weaving a post-apocalyptic tale of a father and his two sons navigating a desolate world. Following a catastrophic event that depopulates the planet, the family faces the dual challenge of surviving their dystopian environment and eluding mysterious nocturnal creatures.

Joining Nicolas Cage in this harrowing journey are Jaeden Martell, known for his role in “IT” (2017), Maxwell Jenkins from “Lost in Space,” and Sadie Soverall, featured in “Fate: The Winx Saga.” Directed by Ben Brewer (“The Trust”) and penned by Mike Nilon (“Braven”), “Arcadian” promises a unique blend of poignant storytelling and electrifying survival horror.

‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ Is a Go with Enhanced Budget and New Characters

Winnie the Pooh 3

Wow, they’re churning things out fast! The upcoming sequel “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3” is officially moving forward, promising an expanded narrative with a larger budget and the introduction of beloved characters from A.A. Milne’s original tales. As confirmed by Variety, the third installment in the horror franchise will welcome Rabbit, the heffalumps, and the woozles into its dark and twisted narrative.

This sequel is a part of an ambitious cinematic universe that reimagines children’s stories as horror tales. Alongside “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” and its first sequel, the universe includes films such as “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare”, “Bambi: The Reckoning,” and “Pinocchio Unstrung”. These movies are set to converge in the crossover event “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,” slated for a 2025 release.

Winnie the Pooh Poohniverse

The creation of these films was made possible when A.A. Milne’s 1926 children’s book “Winnie-the-Pooh” entered the public domain last year, allowing filmmakers to explore these cherished characters in unprecedented ways. Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey Chambers, of Jagged Edge Productions, have led the charge in this innovative endeavor.

The inclusion of Rabbit, heffalumps, and woozles in the upcoming sequel introduces a new layer to the franchise. In Milne’s original stories, heffalumps are imagined creatures resembling elephants, while woozles are known for their weasel-like characteristics and a penchant for stealing honey. Their roles in the narrative remain to be seen, but their addition promises to enrich the horror universe with deeper connections to the source material.
