It was announced some time ago (I believe last October), along with Prom Night, the 1983 Canadian classic slasher flick Curtains was getting the Blu-ray and DVD restoration treatment from Synapse. Today it was announced that this overlooked little gem will be cutting it’s way to your home this July 8th! Pre orders are available on the Synapse website, with the Blu-ray for $24.95 and the DVD for $19.95

Aside from an all new 2k High Definition transfer and a 5.1 audio mix, a handful of all new special features have been added just for this release in typical and gracious Synapse form.

-THE ULTIMATE NIGHTMARE: THE MAKING OF “CURTAINS” – An All-New retrospective featuring interviews with Director Richard Ciupka, Stars Lesleh Donaldson & Lynne Griffin, Editor Michael MacLaverty, Special Make-Up Effects Creator Greg Cannom, and Composer Paul Zaza
-Audio Commentary with Stars Lesleh Donaldson & Lynne Griffin
-Audio Interview with Producer Peter R. Simpson
-Audio Interview with Star Samantha Eggar
-Theatrical Trailer

Curtains is directed by Richard Ciupka (under the pseudonym Jonathan Stryker), the film stars John Vernon, Samantha Eggar, Linda Thorson and Michael Wincott and Lynne Griffin. For those of you unfamiliar with this cult classic, Curtains plot is as follows:

Six young actresses auditioning for a movie role at a remote mansion are targeted by a mysterious masked murderer.

Pretty simple, but pretty entertaining as well. Especially when that killer shows up ice skating around in a hag mask, making for one of the most memorable scenes in a slasher movie!
