The trailer for Hunted looks downright savage. It looks to take the story of Little Red Riding Hood and turn it on its ear. And I’m one-thousand percent here for that.
Visionary director, Vincent Paronnaud helms this one and brings something close to a French extremism to an English film. Most interestingly, this guy was also the creator of the fantastic film, Persepolis.
The synopsis for Hunted goes like this:
What started as a flirtatious encounter at a bar turns into a life-or-death struggle as Eve (Lucie Debay) becomes the unknowing target of a misogynistic plot against her. Forced to flee as two men pursue her through the forest, she’s pushed to her extremes while fighting to survive in the wilderness—but survival isn’t enough for Eve. She will have revenge.
Hunted got really high marks from Joe Bob Briggs a couple of weeks back when he boasted via Twitter about a film that he really dug that played around with the whole Little Red Riding Hood thing.
“Shudder is dropping an original on the 14th that comes from either France or Belgium or Ireland–I couldn’t tell–with actors I’ve never heard of, that can best be described as Wolf-Creature Stalker Torture Porn, with a feminist slant and a survivalist subplot. It’s beautiful.” Briggs Tweeted.
Hunted stars Magritte Award-winning actors Lucie Debay (The Confession) and Arieh Worthalter (Girl), with Ciaran O’Brien rounding out the intimate main cast
