With the barrage of Marvel blockbusters coming out one after the other lately, it’s refreshing to see a serious evil superhero grace the screen for us nerdy crossover fans.
Brightburn is making its premiere in theaters next May and its loaded with filmmaking talent. First, Brian and Mark Gunn, brothers to James (Guardians of the Galaxy, Slither) wrote the script and David Yarovesky (Guardians of the Galaxy, Hive) is directing.
Add the always enjoyable Elizabeth Banks to the lineup and voila, we may have a crossover winner! And by looking at the trailer that seems more likely than not.
Here’s Sony’s official synopsis of the film:
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?
With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
