Stranger Things pays tribute to The Evil Dead with it’s latest retro poster. The Netflix hit has captivated audiences with its dark blend of fantasy, sci-fi and horror, as well as notes of a loving homage to the 1980’s and its culture.  It’s like a fine wine with depth in its flavors, blends, and soft notes that you don’t detect until your second sip, but never leaves you disappointed.

The marketing campaign for season 2 is no different, this promotional poster being the latest in their cultural nods to films that have paved the way.  The poster was recently released through their Twitter account. Given that Stranger Things has been largely a Stephen King love letter, it would make perfect sense that they would utilize The Evil Dead poster, which famously would contain a quote from King himself; “The most ferociously original horror film of 1982.” It was Stephen King’s glowing endorsement early on that really pushed The Evil Dead out of obscurity.

The tweet itself pays great homage to the horror classic which The Evil Dead was dubbed “The Ultimate Experience in Grueling Terror.”  Now for the poster we’re all waiting for…

Opening up all types of horrific possibilities that could occur, this poster has our brains working on overdrive as we try to guess what the new season has in store for us. Could we see a season 2 with a darker push and lean more into horror than sci fi? What is in store for the characters of Stranger Things? Just in time for Halloween, season 2 will premiere on October 27, 2017, and from the looks of this marketing campaign we’re going to be in for a lot more strange and horrific things.
