Ocean’s Eleven director Steven Soderbergh used an iPhone to film his upcoming horror movie Unsane scheduled for a wide release in March of 2018.
The director has been tight-lipped about the project until recently.
Soderbergh told Entertainment Weekly, the film is a “reality-type horror — almost Get Out-ish, but different,” and was shot in about a week’s time.
Fans are curious about what series iPhone he used, most speculate it was an iPhone 7 or Seven-plus given the summer 2017 shooting schedule.
Unsane stars, Claire Foy, Juno Temple, Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharaoh, Aimee Mullins, and Carrie’s Amy Irving.
Recently the director teamed with HBO to create an entirely unique movie experience called Mosaic. In this mystery, he used an app for a new storytelling experience that lets you select the trajectory of the plot.
The six-part limited series will air on HBO in January 2018. The trailer is below.
You may remember festival favorite Tangerine in 2015. That film was shot on an iPhone 5s and used a lens filter, an app and required many hours in post-editing to give it a cinematic feel.
