A powerhouse of an actress has left the world a bit too early. Actress Helen McCrory has died at the age of 52. A very young age for such an accomplished presence.
If you ever watched Penny Dreadful than you know that few presences had as much raw energy as that of McCrory. Her character of Evelyn Poole was a terrifying shot of energy. The role itself is easily one of the most underrated and most villainous in recent history. She was a raw presence, easily able to move from charm to fright in less than a split second.
McCrory was the stuff of fandoms too. The very meat of Harry Potter, Peaky Blinders, Doctor Who and many others. She had the ability to make herself known and make herself unforgettable all in the same bound.
McCrory leaves behind husband Damien Lewis who took to Twitter to share his heartfelt words on his wife’s untimely death. “I’m heartbroken to announce after an heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family. She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, little one, into the air and thank you.”
I’ll definitely be visiting her Doctor Who appearance in the Vampires of Venice tonight. What was your fovorite role of McCory’s? Let us know in the comments section.
