Skyman, a new feature film from Dan Myrick (The Blair Witch Project) has been acquired by Gravitas Ventures. The company will begin distribution of the film later this month according to Deadline.

The film begins in 1987 when 10-year-old Carl Merryweather found himself the center of attention after he claimed to have been visited by an alien life form. Authorities doubted his claims despite others reporting their own encounters. Now, 30 years later, Carl (Michael Selle) is obsessed with what happened to him as a child and will stop at nothing to prove that the Skyman he saw was real.

The film is produced by Myrick, Joseph Restaino, and iHorror’s own Anthony Pernicka and William Surgeon.

“I grew up in an era where the talk of UFO’s, Bigfoot and the ‘Devil’s Triangle’ were all the rage and was inspired by the personal experiences from so many people not unlike Carl Merryweather,” Myrick said in a statement. “Whether you believe in the legitimacy of these accounts or not, they reveal a deeper human truth that I find quite compelling and speak to the notion that so many of us are searching for something greater than ourselves – and I’m excited to finally bring a little bit of that mystery to the big screen.”

The film debuted at the 2019 Austin Film Festival.

Skyman is set for release in drive-in theaters on June 30, 2020 closely followed by a release on VOD platforms on July 7, 2020.
