Anybody who loves a good horror comedy will know full well who Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are. The duo played the lead roles in 2004’s excellent zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead, directed by Edgar Wright, which launched stateside careers for all three men.
The Pegg and Frost duo would go on to re-team with Wright for action comedy Hot Fuzz and sci-fi apocalypse comedy The World’s End. Now, Pegg and Frost also run the production company Stolen Picture, and their first film is 2018’s Slaughterhouse Rulez.
A creature feature, Slaughterhouse Rulez saw release in the UK last year, but now finally has a US release date, as confirmed by Bloody Disgusting. The new horror comedy hits Digital and select theaters on May 17th, and comes out on DVD on June 18th.
It’s unclear if Slaughterhouse Rulez will get a Blu-Ray release in the US, although one is available in the UK for those with a region free player that wish to import. Be warned, Pegg and Frost’s roles are supporting ones, so don’t expect them to be the leads.
Slaughterhouse Rulez centers on a British boarding school that’s attacked by an underground monster that was awakened by an accident at a nearby fracking site. Critical reviews haven’t been great, but those interested can make up their own minds.
