It’s been a year, but Konami had decided to remove the Silent Hills (the latest in the Silent Hill series) demo known as P.T. from PSN on April 29th. Konami has posted a note on the official site that simply and sadly reads, “distribution period of ‘P.T. (Playable Teaser)’ on PlayStation Store will expire.”
Why is this sad? Well, with all the hoopla that has been going on between Silent Hills director Hideo Kojima and Konami, it’s still unclear what his future employment is with the company. Even though an announcement has been made that Mr. Kojima will see Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain through to completion, it’s unknown at this point if he is still involved with Silent Hills and if removing the demo during this period is any indication, it could mean that the game will be pushed back until either a new director is found or this whole mess has been publicly sorted. It’s unlikely the game would be canceled all together, but everything at this moment is speculation.
For a demo, P.T. was absolutely terrifying and presented some of the most challenging puzzles, that required you to listen and speak with your PS4, via a microphone. Although it was just a teaser, it was enough to get us anxious, an scared, for the next Silent Hill installment.
Hideo Kojima was directing alongside with Guillermo del Toro and starring everyone’s favorite redneck zombie killer, Norman Reedus.
