Netflix’s dropped a peek of their new series, The Irregulars and it looks pretty intriguing. This one pairs a group of of teens up with the world of Sherlock Holmes. It also looks to twist the story we are used to and combines it with new elements of the supernatural.
The synopsis for The Irregulars goes like this:
The Irregulars is a dark, mysterious eight-part drama that follows a gang of troubled street teens who are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson and his mysterious business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes. As the crimes take on a horrifying supernatural edge and a dark power emerges, the Irregulars (based on the Baker Street Irregulars gang from the original books by Sir Arther Conan Doyle) must come together to defeat larger than life forces.
It will be interesting to see the characters we are used to begin reformulated, or at least more sinister dudes than we are used to in The Irregulars. Mostly, the idea of a Dr. Watson that is a manipulator. It sounds like this iteration of Sherlock and Watson are going to be closer to out right villains than they are the good guy prime that we are used to seeing.
Executive producer of Peak Blinders is also working on The Irregulars with Watership Down writer Tom Bidwell on as writer.
The Irregulars lands on Netflix beginning March 26.
