One of the most beloved horror movies from the past 10 years is no doubt the horror-comedy Shaun of the Dead, which celebrates its 10th birthday this year. Many fans have spent these last 10 years wondering if a sequel is ever going to happen, and though it’s likely not going to, the beloved characters are coming back in 2015…
The exciting announcement was made today that Shaun and Ed will be returning in a live Shaun of the Dead stage show, which has been given a stamp of approval by Simon ‘Shaun’ Pegg. A handful of dates have been set over in the UK, and worldwide expansion is a strong possibility.
Running just under two-hours long, the play will feature music from the film, and the director promises that it will be a real treat for fans.
“It’s not a musical,” said director Chas Burns. “Between you and I, I can’t abide musicals. It’s a production with tongue-in-cheek songs, with some extra stuff thrown in you won’t see in the film and deleted scenes that were left on the cutting room floor. I have always stated that if I ever see anyone yawning at one of our productions I will call it a day. It’s incredible the interest we’ve had, people have been waiting for it to happen and we’ve been lucky enough to find ourselves with the rights.”
The 110-minute show will involve plenty of audience participation – with ticket-holders being given a ‘goodie bag’ of props they need to take part in the fun. Audiences will also be encouraged to dress as zombies or other characters from the film.
