Sharknado 5 Promises To Make America Bait Again

Published

on

Sharknado the franchise that just keeps on coming, has announced yet another sequel to add to the pile of shark related disaster movies.  The newest addition to the series being Sharknado 5: The Swarming with the tagline “Make America Bait Again”.  Looks like the low budget sharkathon’s have officially dipped into political humor.

The newest sequel will once again be directed by Anthony Ferrante, and being backed up by a screenplay written by a newcomer Scotty Mullen.  If there is anything to expect from this sequel it’s low budget effects, acting so poor it hurts, and more cameos than a Marvel movie has to offer.  Truly Sharknado is a series for those with a refined taste for B-Horror glory.

Speaking of cameos the list of cameos to happen on screen is truly staggering, however does explain where the budget for these things go towards.  Viewers can expect Gilbert Gottfried, Chris Kattan, Bret Micaels and many other celebrity appearances.

The list of celebrities wanting to make an appearance in a Sharknado movie of all things is truly shocking.  With even more to be announced as time goes on.  Global Swarming is quickly looking to be the most ridiculous entry in this already maddening franchise.  Here’s the official synopsis for the film for any of those curious about the “plot”.

“In Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, the mission gets personal for Fin Sheppard and his bionic wife April when their young son gets trapped in a traveling ‘nado and transported all over the world.  From London to Rio,Tokyo, Rome, Amsterdam and beyond, our globetrotting heroes will seek assistance from a highly skilled squad of royals, scholars and Olympians, enlisting famous faces from news, entertainment, and sports in their most epic battle yet.”

This sounds insane and so over the top that any fan of the series is sure to love this entry.  While your’s truly is personally not a fan of the Sharknado franchise, this particular entry sounds too crazy to miss.

Sharknado 5: Global Swarming is set to premiere where else but SYFY on August 6, later on this summer.  Be sure to mark the date as this sounds like an event for everyone to experience together.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
