Writer/Director Shane Black just posted a photo on Twitter teasing his highly anticipated sequel The Predator! But don’t get too excited yet. The image depicts a lush forest scene, which, at first glance, appears to be void of any life. However, that doesn’t mean the Predator isn’t hiding in plain sight.
Can you spot anything in the photo?
Like a parent organizing an Easter egg hunt on April Fool’s Day, Black may have fans scouring the brush looking for something that might not actually be there. The image is both cruel and genius at the same time. There are bound to be many excited fans out there leaning into their monitors, and zooming in to every square inch of the picture.
Details for the film have thus far been played close to the chest, but don’t let the lack of marketing material trouble you. Shane Black been with the franchise since the beginning, playing the role of Hawkins in the original film. His writing/directing filmography in the action genre speaks for itself with the Lethal Weapon films, Iron Man 3, and The Nice Guys. He knows how to write great characters, film suspenseful action sequences, and mix a little dark humor into his stories. As a die-hard fan of the first film, I think the sequel is in good hands.
We recently learned from co-writer Fred Dekker that the sequel is currently going through reshoots, but a teaser trailer should be posted soon. The release date is currently set for September 14, 2018.
In the meantime, I think I speak for all fans when I say, “GET TO THE TRAILA!”
