5. Witchy Sisters
Now there are a lot of witches to choose from, but when it comes to Halloween there could only really be three to honor. The exuberant Sanderson Sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) of Hocus Pocus.
Growing up in the ’90s meant each Halloween was spent in front of the TV and watching these three goofy gals on their quest for children. It wasn’t just about eating kids for the flavor, though I imagine that had to be a perk for them. It was about eternal youth and unceasing beauty.
That makes the 2nd film to feature malevolent forces out to end the lives of children…groovy!
That’s what Halloween is about though, Creepy and good-natured fun. In an overly sensitive society, I imagine these themes would disturb folks, but listen up, those of you my age know that the ’90s were still pretty hardcore and we grew up with a Disney film about witches who wanted to suck out our souls. And we loved them for that!
Honorable mentions: Witch’s Night Out, The Halloween That Almost Wasn’t.
