The Losers Club has gone back to Derry! Filming is underway for the much anticipated sequel to Andy Muscietti’s feature film adaptation of Stephen King’s IT. The film is being shot in Port Hope, Ontario (Canada), and a local news site (in Northumberland County) has shared the first set photos of the costumed actors.

It: Chapter 2 stars James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, Bill Hader as Richie Tozier, Jessica Chastain as Bev Marsh, James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, Andy Bean as Stanley Uris, and Teach Grant as Henry Bowers.

Early prediction: adult Beverley Marsh becomes my new style icon.

Bill Skarsgård will, of course, reprise his role as Pennywise the dancing clown. The young cast from the first film will also make their return (we imagine they’ll be featured in flashback scenes).

Instagram account @DiscoverDerryMaine (who capture some fantastic behind-the-scenes shots of the set locations in the transformed Canadian town) managed to snap this adorable photo of Sophia Lillis and Jessica Chastain.

James McAvoy himself has been doing promotional double-duty on his official Instagram page, alternating between teases of IT: Chapter 2 and Glass.

It: Chapter 2 takes place 27 years following the events of the first movie. Checco Varese (The Strain, The 33, True Blood) will take over the role of cinematographer for the new chapter, perhaps to help guide the visual transition from past to present.

The sequel hits theaters on September 6th, 2019. We’ll be sure to keep you posted with whatever news comes our way!
