Knowledgeable movie fans will be aware that Blumhouse Productions are behind some of the biggest horror movies of the past few years. They oversaw production of some of the most lucrative big budget horror franchises of recent years. The list of movies put out by Blumhouse is endless, some of the most noticeable include The Purge, Insidious and Paranormal Activity.
Recently on Twitter Blumhouse revealed that a sequel to The Amityville Horror is coming on 15th April 2016. The sequel is titled Amityville: The Reawakening and the official synopsis is as follows: “Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive health care. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realises they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.”
There is a trailer for the sequel to the rather popular ghost story. The date at the end is of course wrong as this trailer was released in August of last year. That strikes me as strange. If the movie was completed by then and scheduled for a release in January 2015, why have they pushed back the opening to April 2016? Anyway, this strange detail aside, the trailer actually presents some really interesting techniques. I went into it expecting nothing but I was taken by surprise at how good this is looking. However, you can have a really effective trailer for an absolutely awful movie so we shall have to wait and see.
