Could you imagine being able to see The Walking Dead on the big screen? According to showrunner Scott Gimple, he thinks it’s inevitable. In an interview with ComicBook.com, when asked about a The Walking Dead movie, he replied with this:
“That question comes up every now and again … I’m sure one way or another, one day, it’ll happen. I think it would be cool.”
“William Shatner as Rick. We’ll get Edward James Olmos as Daryl. Hit all the big shows! … Matthew Fox as the Governor!”
Now, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the humor in Gimple’s statement. Still, this is exciting to hear. The series has already been translated into many more mediums than the original comic books. We have video games, novelizations, and the most popular of all, a TV show. Is it so hard to imagine that one day the time will come for a film?
I think that the only thing that’s up for debate is when a The Walking Dead movie will be made. In my opinion, it will come eventually. The franchise keeps growing bigger and bigger – it’s only a matter of time.
Will The Walking Dead movie come anytime soon? Probably not. I think that first, the show will have to end. Only then will we finally be ready to see it move onto a bigger medium. But then again, maybe that doesn’t need to be the case. If the film doesn’t include Andrew Lincoln and the main cast, could it be a tie-in to the show? The possibilities, as they say, are endless.
Even if the movie never gets made, it’s still fun to think about. So – let’s think about it! When would you like to see one? Do you think it’s a bit…overkill? And if you’re in favor of a The Walking Dead movie ever happening, what do you think it could – or should – be about?
Share it with your friends and get the conversation going. Maybe a little interest is all we need to get it started! Wishful thinking, but a little positivity never hurt anyone.
At least, I don’t think it ever did.
