This Sunday night kicks off the seventh season of the HBO series True Blood, which is no doubt a bittersweet premiere for all fans of the show. As someone who’s been watching since the very beginning, back in 2008, I’m both excited that its coming back and quite sad about the fact that this is the last time it’ll ever be coming back, as Season 7 is officially the final season of the show.
That said, it’s hard to be sad when a show goes out on its own terms, rather than being cancelled prematurely, so I’m going into this one with the mindset of savoring every last bite, and being thankful that we’re getting a definitive conclusion to True Blood. I’ve always had so much fun hanging out with the wild and whacky characters that call Bon Temps home, and I can’t wait to see how it all ends.
Ahead of the Season 7 premiere, HBO aired a 30-minute special last Sunday night called A Farewell to Bon Temps, which featured the main cast and crew reflecting on the past seven seasons. In case you missed it, they’ve just uploaded the entire special onto YouTube, which we invite you to check out below. It serves as a nice little recap of what we’ve seen so far, and we could all use a little refresher course!
In Sunday night’s premiere, titled ‘Jesus Gonna Be Here,’ a band of rogue H-vamps crashes the vampire-human mixer at Bellefleur’s with shocking results. As Sookie seeks refuge from accusations that she’s somehow to blame for the chaos in Bon Temps, the “one vampire for every human” plan moves forward. In the face of a vigilante insurrection led by redneck Vince, Bill receives aid from an unexpected source.
In the meantime, HBO is running a marathon of every single episode of True Blood, all week long, so be sure to check your local listings and tune in to play catch up!
