Killing Eve star Sandra Oh is set to star in Umma, a new supernatural horror film from written by Iris K. Shim who is also set to direct.
Umma, the Korean word for “mother” centers on Amanda (Oh), who lives on an isolated farm with her daughter. Their lives are quiet and peaceful until the remains of Amanda’s estranged mother arrive. Soon after she finds she is not only haunted by her mother, but also the fear of becoming just like her.
According to Deadline, Fivel Stewart (The Haunting of Sharon Tate), Tom Yi (The Purge), MeeWha Alana Lee (Equal Standard), Odeya Rush (Goosebumps), and Dermot Mulroney (Insidious: Chapter 3) have also signed on to appear in the film.
Oh will also serve as an executive producer on the film alongside horror heavyweights Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead) and Andre Øvredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark).
The actress became a household name with her performance as Christina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy. She also made a memorable appearance in director David Slade’s Hard Candy as Patrick Wilson’s somewhat nosey next door neighbor.
