The cast list is growing for the CW’s reboot of the 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys, with the addition of film and television star Rochelle Aytes.
According to Deadline, the actress with play Jackie–a version of the mother role played by Dianne Wiest in the original film–who moves back to the seaside town in North Carolina where she grew up with her two sons Garrett and Levi. Jackie has been gone for 20 years, but she returns with the intention of taking over her father’s bed and breakfast.
Jackie and her sons soon discover a sinister secret beneath the surface of the town where a group of mysterious and deadly teenage vampires rule the night.
Horror fans will remember Aytes from the 2008 hit anthology film Trick ‘r Treat in which she played Maria, one of a group of lady werewolves out to have a good time on Halloween night while slicing and dicing up the randy locals. Aytes also voiced the character of Rochelle in the Left 4 Dead 2 video game and appeared in season two of The Purge.
News of the actress’s casting follows on the heels of the announcement that Lincoln Younes, Ruby Cruz, and Branden Cook had been added to the cast last week. Cook is set to play Aytes’s older son, Garrett.
This is the second attempt by The CW to adapt The Lost Boys as a series after scrapping a previously ordered pilot last year in favor of rewrites and, if you’ll pardon the pun, revamping the series’s approach.
The pilot is being written by Heather Mitchell (Eleventh Hour) and Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars).
