Robert Rodriguez is the man. The founding Austin filmmaker was part of that indie wave that lit up the 90s along side the likes of Quintin Tarantino and Richard Linklater. He has dove into all sorts of genre, from horror to kid friendly fair. His turns at From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty and Planet Terror are all timers when it comes to great horror picks. The dude is still doing things with total innovation and still brings on that indie feel even in his huge blockbusters like Alita: Battle Angel. That’s why its super rad to see that Rodriguez is going to be one of the dudes heading up The Book of Boba Fett.
Rodriguez will join and produce along side Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. The all new original series was teased in the credits of The Mandalorian’s finale.
The short tease showed Boba Fett take over Bib Fortuna’s throne room and even set Oola free from slavery all in one swoop. The tease is huge considering Bib Fortuna was running the heart of the galaxy’s criminal underworld after Jabba the Hutt died. The idea of Boba Fett running the Galaxy’s criminal underworld is going to be very, very cool and awesome to see explored.
Rodriguez directed the amazing episode titled ‘The Tragedy” during season 2. The episode was one of the best of the series, and really showed the level of cool that Rodriguez will hopefully bring to the table in the future.
Get your bounty hunting gear ready, The Book of Boba Fett hits Disney+ in December 2021.
