Director and composer Rich Ragsdale’s score for Ghost House is just as haunting and emotionally driven as the film, and it’s now available for purchase via Howlin’ Wolf Records.
Ragsdale used a three-tier approach in creating the score for the film, layering a traditional orchestral score with expanded 80s synth riffs and finally adding ambient, ethnic sounds from Thailand where the film was set and filmed.
The score was recorded by the Budapest Scoring Orchestra under the direction of Péter Pejtsik. The traditional Thai lines and sounds were recorded by monks in a temple in Thailand. Additionally, there is a gorgeous track by performed by Sherri Chung which was in the film titled “Let Me Be.”
For those that might have missed it, Ghost House starred Scout Taylor-Compton (Rob Zombie’s Halloween) and tells the story of a group of American tourists who find themselves haunted and hunted by an angry spirit after disturbing an abandoned ghost house in Thailand.
The film was beautifully shot on location and featured an international cast of talent both in front of and behind the camera.
The Ghost House score features liner notes by Ragsdale as well as images from the film that will haunt your dreams. It is available directly from the Howlin’ Wolf Records website for $15.95.
