Last week was not a good one here in the horror community, as it kicked off with the passing of Robert “Maniac Cop” Z’Dar. Unfortunately, the week ended on another downer of a note, as we’ve just learned that another horror icon has been taken away from us way too soon.
It was reported last night that 65-year-old actor Tom Towles passed away, and no specific details have yet been made available. Towles is perhaps best known for his role as villainous sidekick Otis in 1986’s Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, in which he starred alongside The Walking Dead‘s Michael Rooker.
Over the course of his 40-year career, Towles amassed a resume loaded with over 60 film and television roles, with other notable horror films including Night of the Living Dead (1990), House of 1000 Corpses and Rob Zombie’s Halloween. He also briefly reprised his Corpses role in The Devil’s Rejects.
“I just got word that our buddy Tom Towles has died,” Zombie wrote on his Facebook page. “He was such a great guy and I am so grateful that we got to work together several times. He will be really missed.”
All of us here on iHorror offer our sincere condolences to the friends and family of Tom Towles. He will indeed be missed.
