Years ago, the original Resident Evil got a remaster on the Nintendo Gamecube and recently got a re-remaster earlier this year on the current gen consoles. So, what’s Capcom’s next step? Well, to remaster Resident Evil 2, the fan favorite of the series.
According to the Official Resident Evil Facebook page, Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi shows us that he presented the company with his ideas for the project!
“Right after the RE HD Remaster project was finished, I actually started putting together my ideas for this “RE2 Project”. So, I just brushed it up and went to see my boss to present the basic concept of the project already…”
Along with the recent re-remaster of Resident Evil, Capcom has also remastered the Devil May Cry reboot and Devil May Cry 4 and recently announced an HD remaster of Resident Evil 0 (which is only available on the Gamecube currently), so I think it’s a safe bet they would be interested in bringing back what is probably the most popular sequel in the series. Personally, I still go back and play the game (a digital download came with Resident Evil 6) and explore it. I think it’s the most fun in the series, giving a pure b-movie vibe as it feels like a cash in of zombie outbreak films, almost as if it is something the Italians would have made in the 80’s.
