Can robots experience fear? Let’s find out.
Ahead of next month’s release of mysterious psychological thriller Morgan, 20th Century Fox decided to show the film’s trailer to two of the world’s most advanced robots: magicLab’s EDI (Electronic Deceptive Intelligence) and the University of Pisa’s FACE (Facial Automation for Conveying Emotions). The strange experiment resulted in the most unique reaction video we have ever seen.
As you’re about to see, both forms of artificial intelligence seem genuinely scared by the Morgan trailer, with one of them covering its eyes and the other staring at the screen in wide-eyed horror. They were surely both wondering just who or what the character of Morgan is, and we’ve got a strong feeling that she shares something in common with them. Is she a synthetic being? We’ll find out on September 2nd.

The film’s cast includes Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Paul Giamatti
A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.
