Dave Franco is transitioning from acting to directing for the feature film The Rental. Above all, this is a thriller, a departure from Franco’s usually comedic projects.

The Rental is written by both Franco and Joe Swanberg and stars Alison Brie (Glow), Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) Sheila Vand (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night), and Jeremy Allen White (Shameless).

“I’ve admired the IFC brand and their films for as long as I can remember,” Franco told EW. “I couldn’t be more excited about partnering with them for my directorial debut. They have such a strong track record when it comes to elevated genre films, which makes them the perfect home for The Rental.”
