Chiodo Bros. Developing Killer Klowns From Outer Space Trilogy

Published

on

Pretty much an instant cult classic, Killer Klowns From Outer Space is the type of film that has always generated ongoing talk and speculation concerning a possible sequel. Sadly though, it’s been almost 30 years since Killer Klowns first hit theaters, and we really don’t seem any closer to seeing the titular aliens make a return trip to Earth.

Still, that hasn’t stopped creators The Chido Bros. from developing ideas for not only a Killer Klowns sequel, but an entire trilogy of sequels, leading to four overall Klowns films. Stephen Chiodo revealed these plans during a recent appearance on The Odd Podcast. Here’s what he had to say:

“There’s nothing coming out that you could guarantee. Look, Hollywood is a very fickle industry. We’ve been working on a sequel since the day after we made [Killer Klowns from Outer Space]. I mean we have tons of ideas on different directions we can take it. There’s been a lot of legal issues, a lot of financial difficulties. We’ve had deals people presented us with that we weren’t really interested in. There is something that’s going to happen. We are currently working on something. But it doesn’t mean that it’s coming out next week.”

“We want to take some of the characters we had in the original film and do a new film that has new characters having their little adventures with Klowns, but also revisit some of the people we’ve seen in the past. Instead of a theatrical release, we’re thinking of going to television. We’ve got this great idea. Sort of like a trilogy in four parts, with the original film being the first, and then we have an idea for a trilogy that would just be a long-ranging series that follows new characters as they battle Klowns, but then we also see Mike Tobacco pop up. And then we see Debbie Stone. And then we see Dave the cop. We’ve got it all written out. It’s a fantastic concept.”

Unfortunately, MGM owns the rights to the film, and would ultimately have to approve any continuation of the Killer Klowns story. For their part, the Chiodos are currently looking for a writer to come in and get their ideas together into an actual script that they can then present to the studio.

Obviously, fans shouldn’t get their hopes too high, as this isn’t the first time the Chiodos have talked up Killer Klowns’ franchises prospects. Still, that trilogy idea sounds awesome, so us horror lovers can at least be cautiously hopeful MGM finally pulls the trigger on reviving our favorite intergalactic cotton candy lovers.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
