‘A Nightmare On Elm Street 3’ Scene Re-Shot on iPhone 11 Pro is Impressive

iPhone 11

Guys, this is official proof that fledgling filmmakers have no excuses to not create their magnum opus anymore. In this footage shot by A Nightmare On Elm Street 3’s Cinematographer, Roy H. Wagner, we get a look at exactly how powerful the iPhone’s new camera is.

The footage, a production of VideoVillage.Pro, Moai Films and Global Village, Inc., shot takes our main protagonist into Freddy’s boiler room and sees an entire chase complete with memorable sticky sludge and child’s skeleton.

Following the Nightmare footage, we are given a side-by-side that compares the original 35mm footage against the iPhone 11 Pro’s footage. The results are truly insane, especially when looking at how the ISO on the iPhone can all but see in the dark and through shadows. My complaint here is that shadows are necessary to fit the Nightmare aesthetic. But, it does display exactly how powerful the iPhone is.

It’s a fun project and it’s awesome to see Wagner and original gaffer, Shane Kelly at work in the Nightmare world again.

All these Nightmare rumblings as of late has us thinking something is going to happen soon for the franchise. With Elijah Wood’s recent interest in producing under SpectreVision and Robert Englund expressing interest in reprising ole’ Fred, it has us thinking that maybe we are being lead to a return to A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Freddy Krueger meets the iPhone11 Pro! Check out the final re-creation of a scene from Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors. Shot entirely on the iPhone 11 Pro, Roy H. Wagner ASC and Shane Kelly – the original Director of Photography and Gaffer for the iconic Halloween film, Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors – and an all-star crew directed by Lukas Colombo, re-created a chilling scene from the 1987 film using an Apple iPhone11Pro. How far has technology come in 30 years? In the hands of a cinematography legend, can a new iPhone 11 Pro compare to a film camera? What do you think? Take a look and let us know what you think in the comments!

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
