Ok. OK. Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies may not be for those that are looking for a George Romero type zombie flick. But for those of us that enjoy a good B movie gem, I have a masterpiece for you. Some of the biggest names in professional wrestling are fighting off hoards of the undead. What more could a fan of both worlds want?
Directed and written by Cody Knotts, Wrestlers Vs. Zombies was filmed last year via a successful Kickstarter campaign that Knotts started himself. Apparently there was enough interest out there to make this film a possibility. God Bless those of you throwing your money into this to make this soon to be national treasure happen. The film stars such wrestling greats as Roddy Piper (They Live), Jim Duggan, Kurt Angle, Matt Hardy, Shane Douglas, Reby Sky and Taya Parker.
So basically heres the plot: Shane Douglas accidentally kills a wrestler in the ring. The wrestler’s brother Angus seeks revenge by surrendering his soul to an ancient demon to gain the power to raise the undead. He then lures Shane And Piper into traveling to a remote location by promising them money in return for a personal appearance. Once there, Shane and Roddy must fight their way through hordes of flesh-eating zombies.
Bottom line, If you’re a wrestling and or a zombie fan, you will enjoy the B grade joyness that this flick sprawls out for you. I myself am both. And enjoyed every cheesy second of it. No one is going to be watching this film hoping to witness Oscar worthy poetry in motion; so just sit back and enjoy it for what it is. You can currently buy the DVD on Amazon.Com.
