Hey, who likes clowns? Judging from some of you in the horror community, not that many. Unless, of course, they happen to be scaring the ever-living out of you! Finally after years of nothing but rumors and speculation, a Poltergeist reboot has finally lifted off the ground. It was last April when we first heard about it and just about a month ago when plot details emerged, but now we have some nightmare inducing images for you.
The first stills from the Gil Kenan (Monster House) directed film have surfaced after he spoke with USA Today about the movie, saying, “It’s a responsibility we take very seriously. We’re working to make a Poltergeist film that lives up to the original’s legacy.”
From these images, I’d say it looks like he’s on track to live up to that legacy, especially the shot of Caroline putting her hand up to the television set, which is filled with silhouetted hands, before she utters the famous line, “They’re here!” Also like the original, the remake also features a stellar cast, which was always part of the plan. Kenan has brought on board Pulitzer Prize-winning dramatist David Lindsay-Abaire to write the script and the film is being led by Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt with Jared Harris (who is no stranger to the paranormal after The Quiet Ones) as the paranormal investigator once things start to get hairy.
Catch the movie on July 24th of this year in theaters!
