The upcoming “Pet Sematary” film will likely tell the whole story of the Creed family, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more to tell, according to its producer.

After “Pet Sematary’s” South by Southwest premiere, Lorenzo di Bonaventura told Consequence of Sound he’s interested in producing a prequel film:

“I think if there’s anything here, there’s a prequel. I think if you look at the book, we didn’t cover all that stuff that happens before the Creed family moves in …you are going toward something that also has a lot of crazy, creepy feelings about it.”

Jud Crandall is certainly familiar with that plot of sour land. He and the rest of the residents of Ludlow must have plenty of stories to tell about animals and humans who’ve been buried there and came back “wrong.” I can imagine a great anthology film that centers on that land.

What do you think? Does this Stephen King story have enough background for a prequel?

“Pet Sematary” opens in theaters on Friday, April 5.
