In 1990 network television was only beginning to change into the envelope-pushing, binge-worthy cable medium it is today.
Part of that pivot included Stephen King’s “IT” which ABC made into a miniseries during the fall of that year.
The terrifying movie affected a whole generation of fans due mostly to the performance of Tim Curry as Pennywise the clown.
Now, after years in the making, Pennywise: The Story of IT, takes viewers behind-the-scenes and beneath the sewers for an in-depth look at Tommy Lee Wallace’s cult classic.
Co-writer John Campopiano took to Facebook on Friday to give followers their first look at the doc and it’s worth every one of its glorious six minutes.
One highlight is seeing the reclusive Tim Curry talk about his iconic role and hear about his on-set antics from the rest of the cast.
“Our team worked tirelessly to bring this special video to you,” Campopiano wrote about the documentary. “We hope you enjoy it. As I’ve said before, working on this film over the last couple of years has been a dream come true.”
Sadly there isn’t a firm release date yet, the only clue is a tag which reads “Floating to the Surface 2019.”
Until then, take a look at the trailer below and get ready to revisit the cast when Pennywise: The Story of IT finally materializes sometime this year.
