On September 11th, 2020, we will be getting the third film in the Conjuring series. Patrick Wilson spoke with THR about many of his roles recently. However, the one that concerns us the most is his role as Ed Warren.
He says that the process was different yet the same. Which, truthfully, is more or less what you’d want for the third film in an extremely solid series.
In an interview with THR, Patrick Wilson said:
“The process [of making Conjuring 3] was fantastic, and it’s a much different feel … It’s still the same bones; it’s still very much Ed and Lorraine. Again, we are pushing our characters to places they haven’t gone, but the film will be a really nice addition because it’s definitely a different beast. Pun intended.”
“Because of the spinoffs, when you come back to the flagship movies, I want to feel like, “OK, now we’re back in the Conjuring world.” There’s a different weight to those movies just in scope alone, budget, time to shoot it and all that stuff. It’s got great producers, and honestly, a super happy and supportive studio. So it’s a lot of positivity even though you’re dealing with a lot of negative demons. I can’t wait. I actually saw James yesterday; I went down to visit him on his set [Malignant].”
For the newest installment, James Wan will not be directing. This will be a first for the series. Instead, he will handle production duties, with Michael Chaves directing.
This could be what he is referring to while simply making a quirky pun. Obviously, there will be some paranormal activity in the film, but as for it actually being a beast instead of a spirit? I’m not so sure. We’ll have to wait and find out.
Although, one could argue that The Crooked Man and Valek were both beasts. You can interpret his comments as you will!
Whatever it is, I know Wilson will be phenomenal.
