Paranormal Activity is being rebooted, as we previously reported. The franchise is being overhauled at Blumhouse the studio that cut its teeth with the found-footage paranormal horror.
Now, it appears that Christopher Landon director of Happy Death Day and Freaky will be the one that reboots and brings back Paranormal Activity.
The news came about during an interview with Dread Central’s Michelle Swope.
“I’m writing the new Paranormal Activity movie; we’re rebooting that franchise…I’m super excited about the director, but I can’t say who it is because they won’t let me. He’s a get. He’s awesome! I think people are going to be really surprised by where we’re taking this thing,” Landon told Dread Central.
There still haven’t been any details about rather this Paranormal Activity will bring back any characters or lore that the original franchise had built up. The original film scared up a record amount of cash for being a low-budget found footage entry. The later Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones went into some crazy territory that concluded with witches being blasted by shotguns. It wasn’t the sort of horror that we were used to from the franchise and might have been the reason that it was the last one in the series.
