In a rather odd bit of advertising, Carole Baskin of Tiger King fame is endorsing the horror title Circus of the Dead.
Dressed in her signature crown of wildflowers and locked in a perpetual smirk, the queen of tiger fodder lends her voice and countenance as a bumper to the movie trailer.
Apparently this promo is tied to the release of the movie on Blu-ray and VOD.
Genre pub Dread Central has taken charge of the Billy Pon directed release and says: “The film introduces fans to Papa Corn (Oberst), a killer clown who hands in a performance many put right up there with Terrifier‘s Art the Clown! We hope you’ll agree, Circus of the Dead represents the kind of bold, transgressive filmmaking Dread fans are craving. Hang on to your hats and glasses, because this ride isn’t for the tame of heart!”
The official synopsis is read by Baskin and is as follows:
A man becomes entangled in a deadly morality game when the circus comes to town and a sadistic clown forces him to examine the things in life he takes for granted in the most horrific ways.
Baskin adds, “Papa loves you,” at the end.
We can’t be sure if this a paid endorsement, a personal favor, or one of those celebrity shout-outs you can buy, but it certainly is a weird, yet effective promotional grab.
The movie looks like a wild time so let us know if you’ve seen it.
