After the huge success of M. Night Shyamalan’s Split, discussion of a sequel was not a question of if, but when. Blumhouse proved to be a supportive partner for Shyamalan’s return to horror fan favor.
Earlier this week, Blumhouse released a short teaser trailer for Glass – the highly anticipated, world-combining sequel to Split. The film will bring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson’s characters from Unbreakable face-to-face with James McAvoy’s brilliant roster of identities from Split.
Today, we’ve got a brand new trailer to shed some more light on the film’s dramatic balancing act of characters.
Shyamalan is effectively building his own universe of tarnished superheroes and villains. They lack the pretty polish of Marvel and DC’s cast of characters, but Glass‘ jaded team holds a powerful, fascinating humanity.
Along with Jackson, Willis, and McAvoy, the film stars Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) as Split survivor Casey Cooke and Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) as Dr. Ellie Staple.
The synopsis is as follows:
From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within.
Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
Glass is set to hit theaters January 18, 2019. Check out the new trailer and the phenomenal poster below!
