Brightburn, the new genre-bending sci-fi horror film written by Brian and Mark Gunn and directed by David Yarovesky, dropped a brand new trailer today, and it looks like they’re ready to take us on a seriously dark ride.
Modeled loosely on the origin story of Superman, Brightburn asks what would happen if an alien child crash-landed on earth and grew to become a terrifying villain rather than a legendary hero.
As you can see in the trailer below, the answer is bad things…very, very bad things.
I don’t know if it’s the eye trauma, the mask, or the thought of an out of control all-powerful alien with the impulse control of a pubescent boy, but this trailer has us shook.
Jackson A. Dunn stars as Brandon “Brightburn” Beyer with Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) and David Denman (13 Hours) as his adoptive human parents who found him as an infant when his pod crashed on their land.
Gregory Alan Williams and Becky Wahlstrom–who ends up on the receiving end of that eye trauma I mentioned–also star in the film.
Check out that trailer below, and mark your calendars to hit the theater Memorial Day weekend to see Brightburn.
